Cook Communications

Can you describe your business?

We are in the business of providing corporate and financial communications services and advice. Cook Communications was founded in 2003 and currently has offices in Prague, Warsaw, Budapest, Bucharest and Sofia, and a presence in Brussels, Vienna and Zagreb, which makes us the largest independent communications agency in Central Europe in terms of footprint. We provide Public Relations and strategic communications support to some of the world’s leading companies across the region. We have experience across many sectors – defence & aerospace, capital markets, construction, consumer, energy, engineering, fashion, FMCG, financial, gaming, healthcare, industrial vehicles & machinery, IT, leisure & hospitality, logistics, M&A, mining, NGOs, oil & gas, private equity, real estate, retail and telecommunications. We have a particularly strong record in the defence & aerospace sector and in financial communications.

Why do clients choose your business?

We have a select team of experienced communications professionals who know our markets inside out. Our mix of international and local staff draw on local insight, regional knowledge and international experience to position clients, and their products and services, in ways that help support their business objectives. And we have a deep understanding of the media and social landscape in each country, and excellent connections with the leading international media. We not only deliver the desired PR results, but also provide clients with valuable strategic advice on the communications aspects of their business.

How do you add value to your client's wants and needs?

Whether you are just launching proactive communications or expanding your activities, or need to outsource your comms work, we can provide whatever support you need. We can help you tell your story, get your message across, make sure you are understood, establish your position, enhance your reputation, argue your case, and promote your company, product or service. We tailor our services to meet your needs. We ensure that every client receives the full attention of senior staff. And of course we are fully bilingual in the local languages and English.

Do you have any new initiatives or promotions coming up?

We are currently in the process of giving our own branding - corporate ID and website - a refresh.

Does your Business have any surprising facts or interesting achievements?

We’ve been going strong since 2003, for 18 uninterrupted years, which in itself is an achievement given the ups and downs of the agency sector. We are also proud of our client retention rates. Our longevity and client retention is testament to our stability, level of client service, and our sense of purpose.

How has the Chamber supported you to date and what more can we do to assist your needs?

The Chamber has provided excellent support both before, and during the pandemic with informative events about the Polish economy and introductions to some interesting fellow member companies.

Thoughts regarding the business environment in Poland in 2021?

The economic fallout of the pandemic appears to have hit the economy in a very uneven fashion; some industries devastated, some barely affected and others booming. Despite rising inflation and the poor state of public finances, the stage looks set for a strong economic rebound as restrictions ease in the coming months and the EU recovery fund will provide another gigantic fillip. The effects of the pandemic will continue to shape the economy for a long time to come, both negatively and positively, but such a hiatus is nothing new for Poland and its entrepreneurs – ‘Polak potrafi’.

Any advice for new businesses starting up?

Do it. Despite some of the difficulties, Poland is a great place to do business and the economy still has a long way to grow and develop. Don’t be overwhelmed by the bureaucracy related to just about every aspect of establishing and running a business here, and certainly don’t try to fight it, just run with it! Use support services (legal, tax, HR) wherever you can – it’s a false economy to think you can do it yourself, and look forward to working with amazingly well-educated Polish colleagues who will bring their own inimitable style to your business.
